Sanctions on Delinquent Parking Citations

If your citation remains unpaid, the following steps will be taken:

• Late penalty fees may be added.
• A hold will be placed on the vehicle. Your registration cannot be renewed until payment of all delinquent citation(s) is fulfilled. Fees charged by the DMV to place your registration on hold will also be added onto the citation(s).
• Your state tax refund may be intercepted by the State of California.
• If five (5) or more delinquent citations are incurred, your vehicle may booted or towed.

The sanctions listed above represent the first steps which will be taken for unresolved parking citations. Additional measures may be taken depending upon the amount owed and the length of time citations have remained delinquent, or if other vehicles owned also have unpaid citations.
