Towed Vehicles Release Information
If your vehicle has been towed for having five or more delinquent parking citations, you must obtain a Vehicle Release Order from the Customer Service Center at the time your parking fines are paid. If your vehicle was towed for having no evidence of registration or expired registration, you must provide proof of current registration or a temporary operating permit along with your incomplete registration in order to obtain a Vehicle Release Order from the Customer Service Center.
The Customer Service Representative will provide you with the name and address of the Official Police Garage (OPG) where your vehicle is being stored. There will be OPG fees for towing and storage of your vehicle. These fees are dependent upon the length of time the vehicle is stored and must be paid at the OPG before the vehicle is released. You must pay all parking fines, as well as towing and storage fees, within 30 days. After 30 days your vehicle may be lien sold. The money obtained from the sale of your vehicle will be used towards towing and storage fees. If your vehicle was towed for having five or more unpaid citations, any leftover money will then be used to pay your parking fines. You are responsible for all parking fines if the sale of your vehicle does not raise enough money to pay the total amount due.
