Initial Review By Phone

You can request an Initial Review by calling the PVB Customer Service Hotline between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, at any one of the following telephone numbers: :

The Review will be conducted via telephone by the Customer Service Representative(CSR), and will take place immediately. The CSR will listen to your explanation of the reasons that you feel the citation was unfairly issued and, based on current City of Los Angeles parking regulations, make one of the following determinations:

1. The citation is valid and must be paid
2. The citation is not valid and will be cancelled
3. The citation requires further investigation

If your citation is found to be "Valid" you will be sent written notification that the citation must be paid. Please ensure that the Parking Violations Bureau has your correct mailing address.

If your citation is found to be "Not Valid" you will be sent written notification that the citation has been dismissed. Your citation will be cancelled and you do not need to take any further action. If you have already paid the fine, then you must request a refund. Ask the CSR to send you a refund request form, fill it out, and return it to the address listed on the form.

If your citation requires further investigation then the CSR will temporarily suspend your citation while the investigation is conducted. The CSR may also ask you to send in additional information. You will not need to pay the fine, until the investigation is completed. Once the investigation is completed, you will be notified of the results by mail.

Keep in mind that an Initial Review will be conducted as soon as you tell the CSR that you believe the citation was issued unfairly. You do not need to specifically ask for an "Initial Review". The results of that Review will be logged into the Parking Violations Bureau computer system. You cannot call back and request another Review of the same citation.
